The tipster Roland Quandt revealed that Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 flagship processor, which is a 5G chip built by Qualcomm for the PC platform. This chip is built by 5nm process and is the first 5nm chip for the Windows platform, it uses Armv8 architecture, CPU performance increased by 85%, GPU performance increased by 60%, single-threaded performance increased by 40%, the chip’s artificial intelligence AI computing speed of more than 29TOPs, the GPU part of energy efficiency increased by 40%.

Specifically, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 CPU section has four large 3.0GHz cores, four small 2.4GHz cores, a total of up to 14MB of cache, and a TDP of around 15W.

Not only that, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 is equipped with a new Spectra ISP image processing unit with Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 technology and supports Wi-Fi 6E for 3.6 Gbps connection speed. It is compatible with 4K 120fps HDR video playback, supports 4K HDR video recording, and supports up to four cameras.

In terms of runtime, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 scored 5845 multi-core points in Geekbench, outperforming the Intel i7-1165G7 and i5-1235U, the latter two with Geekbench multi-core scores of 5080 and 5245 respectively.

In addition, thanks to the advantage of Arm processor, Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 is expected to perform well in terms of battery life.

Take the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s for example, this notebook with Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 can last 18 hours and 23 minutes with 720p video playback at 50% brightness, and I believe the Surface Pro 9 will also be a surprise in terms of battery life.
