Kingston Releases IronKey Keypad 200 USB Flash Drive Based on Hardware Encryption

0

Kingston Digital, the flash memory subsidiary of Kingston Technology Corporation, a leading global provider of memory products and technology solutions, today announced the IronKey Keypad 200 (KP200), the industry’s first to provide the latest FIPS 140-3 level of security for your data storage device.

Designed with strong encryption security protection and flexibility of use in mind, the IronKey Keypad 200 provides XTS-AES 256-bit hardware encryption in a feature-rich and OS-independent alphanumeric keypad.

The KP200 incorporates a built-in rechargeable battery, so users can use the keypad at any time without power to unlock the mobile flash for easy PIN access without the need for software. Once unlocked, users can access their data by plugging the mobile flash into any device that supports USB Type-A flash, making it a plug-and-play device across the IT ecosystem.

The KP200 is FIPS-140-level-3 (pending) certified for military-grade security, and the mobile flash’s circuitry is coated with tamper-resistant, tough epoxy to prevent access without damaging its internal components. To provide another level of protection, the keypad is coated with a protective polymer layer to prevent fingerprint analysis on the keys.

The KP200 supports a multi-PIN option that allows the use of a separate administrator or user PIN. the KP200 locks the user PIN after ten failed logins, but if both PINs are enabled, the administrator PIN can be used to restore the user PIN and access to the mobile flash. If the administrator PIN itself is entered incorrectly ten times in a row, the built-in brute force attack protection will cryptographically erase the mobile flash, permanently destroying the data and resetting the device. In addition, the KP200 can protect against malware from untrusted systems with two different read-only modes, enabling administrators to write and protect the mobile flash in a specific session or across all user sessions.
