Microsoft’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer released an article about the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, he mentioned in the article “will provide Activision Blizzard’s much-loved games in Game Pass — — including Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty.”

Phil Spencer points out that while we love consoles, we also recognize that consoles aren’t the only way people play games.Today, the largest and fastest growing segment of gaming is mobile platforms. To reach billions of players, no matter what device they’re playing on, we need to embrace choice.

Phil Spencer said the Activision Blizzard team’s expertise in developing games for mobile platforms will help Microsoft understand how to create games that attract players around the world. In addition, Microsoft wants players to be able to play Activision Blizzard’s traditional console games on other platforms through Microsoft’s cloud game streaming technology.

In January this year, Microsoft announced that it would acquire Activision Blizzard, a game developer and interactive entertainment content publisher, for $95 per share in cash, with a total transaction value of about $69 billion. Currently, the deal requires approval from regulators in multiple countries.
