Microsoft launches Xbox application for Windows platform for ARM64

Microsoft introduced an ARM64 version of its Xbox apps for the Windows platform. This means that Xbox apps will run natively on the Surface Pro X and the newly announced Surface Pro 9. In an official blog post today, Microsoft confirmed the new Xbox apps for ARM.

While Xbox apps will soon be able to run on ARM devices, trying to run games is a different story. There aren’t a lot of Windows games developed specifically for ARM natively, and those games either run through emulation or through other means like cloud gaming.

Thankfully, Microsoft has added Xbox Cloud Game support to the Xbox app for Arm devices. This means you can stream any Xbox Game Pass Ultimate game to an Arm device without worrying about compatibility or performance issues.

Microsoft has been gradually introducing Xbox Cloud Gaming to a growing number of devices lately. The streaming service is available on some Samsung 2022 smart TVs and monitors, and Microsoft just this week promised to bring it to Meta’s Quest VR headset.
