Microsoft has begun to integrate Mica effects in Office 2021

Microsoft is deploying the Mica effect in the Microsoft Office productivity suite in stages, according to sources. Not long ago, Reddit user Windows 11Observer observed that Microsoft Word has quietly integrated Mica. But for now, this improvement is limited to Word, while Excel, PowerPoint and other applications are still not available.

Mica has become one of the most compelling features of Windows 11, described in the colloquial sense as a translucent/hairy glass effect. Outside of the system, Microsoft wants to deploy it into its own products so as to provide a more unified visual experience. About the description of Mica, Microsoft officially said

"Mica is an opaque, dynamic material that combines a theme and desktop wallpaper to draw the background of long-lasting windows such as applications and settings. You can apply Mica to your application backgrounds to delight users and create visual hierarchies that increase productivity by improving clarity on the window where the focus is. Mica is designed for application performance as it samples the desktop wallpaper only once to create its visualization."
