Microsoft Create has entered the preview stage, Microsoft hopes to build a one-stop editing place for creators

0

Microsoft’s desire to provide its users with a one-stop place to create has brought about the birth of Microsoft Create. Announced a few weeks ago, Create is now available in preview form, a collection of specific Microsoft applications such as Designer, Clipchamp, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Forms.

Microsoft describes Create as “the ultimate creator launchpad for making anything you need,” where individuals can create different kinds of content “with no design experience at all. The emphasis on the availability of ready-made templates designed for invitations, presentations, etc., makes the creation process more straightforward and faster.

However, Create doesn’t just refer to regular Word or PowerPoint documents. It also seems to be a new way for Microsoft to explore the modern world of content creation, which involves social media creators. With that in mind, it’s no wonder it also has a category for different social media platforms. And given that today’s generation frequents TikTok and is used to producing content on the platform, Microsoft hasn’t denied that it also wants to make Create the preferred editing venue for TikTok users through Clipchamp.

“Make a fun TikTok video that gets all the views,” Microsoft’s Katharine Grant wrote in a blog post for Insider.” From the top navigation bar, choose Templates > TikTok and find a template you like. Use Clipchamp to add your own video clips, change the messaging, apply effects, and then share.”

In addition to TikTok, the other categories you’ll see on Create are Instagram and Facebook, which also offers quick tips for videos and in-depth articles for content creators, two of which are titled “Content 101: Delivering Value” and “TikTok for Beginners.

Will Create get the traction Microsoft is hoping for? It’s too early to answer, as it is only in its early stages and frankly offers limited functionality. In addition to being currently only available in English, it may need to offer other advanced editing tools if it wants to compete effectively with the feature-rich social media apps it already offers.
