Meta employees blast Mark Zuckerberg: The meta-universe is dragging the company into a chronic death

0

Since Facebook’s parent company Meta announced it would lay off 13 percent of its workforce, many employees have taken to the anonymous forum Blind to take aim at the company’s CEO Mark Mark Zuckerberg, making negative comments about him, such as claiming that the metaverse project he is pushing is dragging Meta into a chronic death.

The day Meta announced the layoffs, many people took to Blind to comment. One user, claiming to be a senior software developer, posted, “Meta Universe is dragging us into a chronic death. Just by using the meta-universe, Mark Zuckerberg can bring down a company by himself.” One user compared the layoffs to the “Hunger Games,” while another said, “Meta’s future is uncertain.

Employees can express their dissatisfaction with their employers anonymously on Blind. Before joining, however, users must provide their work email address, title and employer so that Blind can “assess” the authenticity of the post. However, sometimes users’ employment status is not officially confirmed, and Blind says it occasionally sends users alerts asking them to re-verify their accounts.

Rick Chen, Blind’s head of public relations, explained, “Almost all of the reviews on our platform are written by current employees of various companies, because people don’t usually have access to Blind after they’ve been fired or resigned.”

Since 2020, Meta employees have posted nearly 6,000 reviews about the company on Blind, which they rate 4 out of 5 stars.

One self-proclaimed Meta engineer gave the company a five-star rating, citing “talented coworkers,” a “great culture,” and a long list of “benefits “. But on the day of the layoffs, the engineer added that Mark Zuckerberg was steering the company in the wrong direction.

A user who identified himself as a Meta data scientist said Meta needed to make cuts at the executive level, adding, “The leadership is clueless and they are mistaking wrong actions for progress.”

A person claiming to work in talent acquisition gave Meta a four-star rating. He acknowledged that the company is “one of the best places to work,” adding that “Mark Zuckerberg is not afraid to take risks (which is both a good and bad thing).”

Another poster, who identified himself as a senior technical project manager, wrote: “Bad leadership is sinking this ship.” He acknowledged that while Meta has the advantages of “high pay,” benefits and talent, it also has many “shortcomings,” including “no accountability at the director level and above, and the vice presidents and directors are just milking the company for profits without adding There is no accountability at the director level and above.

I thought it was a data-driven company, but it’s really a company driven by personal intuition and emotion,” he added. No one can change Mark Zuckerberg’s decision.”

However, not all Meta employees have a negative view of Mark Zuckerberg. One former employee who was recently laid off said he found Mark Zuckerberg’s handling of the layoffs “very humane.

Another engineer gave the company a one-star rating and described the mass layoffs as “the worst layoffs in history. He said, “In a big layoff situation, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to work there until the stock price has fully recovered.”
