Mercedes-Benz has announced its lineup for the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. Among them, the new EQE pure electric SUV will make its debut in China, while a number of heavyweight models such as the Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG will soon land in the Chinese market. The new Mercedes-Maybach EQS pure electric SUV will have its world debut and will be presented on stage together with the EQG concept car!

At the Mercedes-Benz Night tonight, Mercedes announced the new EQG Concept, EQE SUV, AMG EQE 53 and the first purely electric model of Maybach – the Maybach EQS (SUV). Of course, the details will have to wait until tomorrow’s Shanghai Auto Show to be revealed.

Mercedes-Benz says that the brand has reached a market share of 45% in China above 1 million and 56% above 1.5 million. Mercedes-Benz’s Maybach, G-Class and AMG will all be launched as electric products, and since then the entire lineup has stepped into electrification, ensuring that when the original Mercedes-Benz customers want an electric car, their needs will be met within the Mercedes-Benz product system.

According to the introduction, the main specifications of the new vehicle include a 659bhp, 701 lb-ft dual-motor powertrain (123bhp, 68 lb-ft higher than the current EQS 580 4Matic) and a range of 373 miles (about 600.29 km).

The most touted aspect of the new car is the interior, which introduces more technology to the luxurious EQS 580, as well as the new MBUX Hyperscreen (with vegetable-tanned Nappa leather) “executive” seats, the Burmester 4D surround sound system, and the typical chrome on the dashboard and doors. The typical Maybach chrome.

The rear offers a wide range of luxury features, including an 11.6-inch display in the front seatbacks, wooden seat dividers and a built-in refrigerator with silver-plated goblets. The rear seats are also equipped with ventilation, massage functions and neck and shoulder heating.

Outside, it also features a range of elements specific to Maybach, including the brand’s signature two-tone paint scheme and the chrome trim on the SUV.

Pricing for the new car has yet to be announced, but given that the EQS SUV 580 alone is £152,635 (currently about RMB 1.302 million), we believe the Maybach will easily exceed £200,000 (currently about RMB 1.706 million ).
