Mercedes-Benz today released a new pure electric G-Class off-road vehicle, named G 580 with EQ Technology. This is the first Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle no longer named after the EQ series. . The new car uses four-wheel motor technology, with a maximum combined power of 432kW and a peak torque of 1164N·m, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. In addition, the new car is equipped with a 116kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP standard cruising range of up to 473 kilometers.

In terms of price, the standard version of the model in Europe starts at 142,600 euros (Note: currently about 1.105 million RMB), while the EDITION ONE special edition starts at 192,500 euros (currently about 1.492 million RMB) ). It is reported that the new car will be officially launched in the second half of 2024.

In terms of appearance design, the new Mercedes-Benz pure electric G-Class off-road vehicle retains the design language of the EQG concept car and has the appearance characteristics of the G-Class family. The production version is tougher and more powerful, and offers two styles: bright decoration and blackened design. The vehicle maintains the classic square box shape of the G-Class, with dimensions of 4624/1931/1986mm and a wheelbase of 2890mm. The trunk volume is 555L and can be expanded to 1990L. The small school bag at the rear of the new car is an independent storage space, which is convenient for storing some small items and charging cables.

The new car has a total mass of 3.5 tons, is equipped with 265/50 R18 tires, uses a front double wishbone suspension, and the rear axle uses a rigid rear axle specially developed for this car – a de Dion axle.

In terms of interior, the new car inherits the design style of the big G. The center console is full of “G flavor” and the central tunnel area is equipped with a touch panel and silver decorative panel. The rear seat backs are equipped with two LCD screens to enhance the entertainment experience for rear passengers.

In terms of power system, all four wheels of the new car are equipped with permanent magnet synchronous motors, four independent motor configurations, with a maximum power of 432kW (588 horsepower), a peak torque of 1164N·m, an acceleration time of 0-100km/h of 4.7 seconds, and a top speed of 180km. /h. The equipped 116kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides a maximum WLTP cruising range of 473 kilometers, about 580 kilometers under CLTC operating conditions, and energy consumption between 27.7-30.3kWh/100km. The fast charging feature enables a range of 170 kilometers after 15 minutes of charging. The underbody of the car also uses a carbon-containing smart hybrid material to protect the battery pack.

In addition, the new car also introduces G-turn technology, which can realize a U-turn on the spot through the paddles behind the steering wheel. It can turn 90 degrees in 1 second, turn once in 4 seconds, and make up to two turns in a row at a time. The G-STEERING function provides a tighter turning radius when off-road, and the three-speed intelligent off-road function works like cruise control, allowing the driver to focus on the road. The new vehicle is stable on side slopes of up to 35 degrees and has a maximum wading depth of 850 mm. G-ROAR brings a unique sound experience to the electric G-Class.
