LG’s G3 series OLED TV will be released soon: brightness increased by 70% and support HDMI 2.1 QMS

According to FlatpanelsHD news, LG will soon release a new generation of OLED TV, its German website has now updated some of the parameters information.

According to the introduction, LG G3 uses Brightness Booster Max technology, the full-screen brightness will be increased by 70%, and the peak brightness will be higher.

LG explained that this is a new “light control architecture” that combines a new light enhancement algorithm to make the G3 with Brightness Booster Max full-screen brightness “70% brighter than regular OLED for 55, 65, and 77-inch sizes. An LG spokesperson said the G3’s peak brightness will be in the 1800-nit range and may be slightly brighter in the Vivid setting, which FlatpanelsHD says is up to 2100 nits in Vivid mode and 235 nits in full-screen brightness. The G2, by comparison, has a peak brightness of 930 nits and a full-screen brightness of 166 nits.

In addition, there are no new sizes in LG’s OLED series this year, with the B3 offering 55 to 77 inches, the C3 offering 42 to 83 inches, the G3 offering 55 to 97 inches, the Z3 offering 77 and 88 inches, and the A3 measuring 48 to 77 inches.

The LG 2023 OLED TV will still feature up to four HDMI 2.1 ports (the B3 has two) with support for 4K120, HDR10, Dolby Vision (up to 4K120), Dolby Atmos, HDMI 2.1 VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium, Nvidia G-Sync Compatible, etc. HDMI 2.1 QMS (Quick Media Switching) eliminates for the first time the “HDMI bonk” (fast media switching) that occurs when switching between refresh rates (24Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, etc.). “Apple TV 4K (2022) is the first playback device to support HDMI 2.1 QMS.

LG webOS 23 TV system will have a simplified look with support for quick cards and tab navigation. The new TV will also feature the Alpha 9 Gen6 processor, which uses “AI” technology to recognize objects to enhance clarity or apply HDR tone mapping to each object in a picture individually.
