LG Uplus Begins Car Connectivity Services for Hyundai Motor Group

LG Uplus announced on November 13 that it will provide car networking services for new cars launched by Hyundai Motor Group, including Genesis, Hyundai Motor and Kia, starting from January 2023.

Hyundai Motor Group has established cooperation with the three major mobile operators LG Uplus, SK Telecom and KT.

In addition to Hyundai, LG Uplus will provide connected car services for all models of Kia Motors and Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury car brand Genesis.

The mobile operator has provided wireless communication lines for Hyundai Motor Group since 2003 and communication services for some of Kia’s models since 2019.

LG Uplus announced that to ensure stable communication 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it has built a dual communication infrastructure exclusively for the Hyundai Motor Group. To this end, in order to start from 2023, drivers of all connected car service vehicles of the Hyundai Motor Group have access to a large amount of data, a dedicated communication infrastructure has been established, and technical preparations such as dedicated network resource allocation and streaming service traffic management have been completed.
