According to foreign media reports, LG EV announced plans to build a second independently operated factory in Arizona last March, and although it was withdrawn a few months later due to soaring costs, they have since restarted plans to build the factory, saying in an earnings analyst call in January that they will proceed as planned.

As for the planned plant in Arizona, LG Energy solution’s CEO Hyeon-su Kwon revealed that they will make a decision soon.

Kwon revealed that they will make a decision soon after the shareholders’ meeting on Friday, local time, saying that they are carefully considering and will make a decision soon, probably before the end of the first half of the year.

In the report, the foreign media mentioned that the batteries produced by LG New Energy’s planned Arizona plant may be supplied to Tesla, whose batteries are used in the electric cars produced by Tesla’s Shanghai Super Factory.

In the report, the foreign media also specifically mentioned that when it said in January this year that it would move forward with its plans to build a plant in Arizona, speculation that it would supply batteries to Tesla for use in electric cars in the U.S. market was on the rise.
