LG Display to launch large OLED panels with microlens array technology in 2024

December 8, according to foreign media reports, LG Group’s LCD panel maker LG Display is expected to launch large OLED panels with microlens array technology in 2024.

LG Display is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, OLED and flexible displays, and dominates the global market for large OLED TV screens, producing displays for a range of companies, including some models of Apple’s iPhone.

At the SID 2022 event in May, the company debuted a 77-inch OLED panel with microlens array technology.

However, large OLED panels with microlens array technology are expected to debut in TVs in 2024, as LG Electronics and Sony, two of Lakin Display’s OLED panel customers, do not plan to use the technology in their 2023 TV products.

In August, foreign media reported that Lakin Display plans to launch a 20-inch OLED panel for personal devices by the end of this year. In addition, the company is also working to obtain a bendable OLED technology.
