Lenovo announced a VR headset – ThinkReality VRX, a standalone headset designed for businesses, providing a comfortable fit, supporting six degrees of freedom (6DoF) tracking with pancake optics and full-color, high-resolution perspective support.

Lenovo says Lenovo ThinkReality VRX is a VR solution for the enterprise workforce, and the immediacy and fidelity of new digital tools experienced through extended reality (XR) devices means the workforce is virtually unrestricted by time and space. Officials also say that ThinkReality VRX is a high-quality, versatile and secure portal to the enterprise metaspace. Suitable for content in six or three degrees of freedom, operating as a standalone device or connected to a PC or workstation, Lenovo ThinkReality VRX is also capable of leveraging cloud-based rendering solutions, such as NVIDIA CloudXR, for graphics-intensive XR experiences that require high-end, GPU-based performance.

The ThinkReality VRX headset features pancake optics and a slim profile design with battery placement for more even weight distribution and better balance, providing a better wearing experience. Four front-facing cameras provide 6DoF tracking, as well as two full-color, high-resolution see-through cameras to provide workers with a better, uninterrupted user experience while performing tasks. Perspective also offers MR application capabilities, allowing users to overlay 3D graphics in the real world and safely navigate the surrounding space without taking off the headset.

ThinkReality VRX is powered by the Snapdragon XR platform, which enables enterprises to develop for ThinkReality VRX by leveraging the Snapdragon Spaces XR developer platform and its OpenXR-based SDK.

ThinkReality VRX will be available to select partners by the end of 2022 and then become fully available in select global markets beginning in early 2023, with pricing for the enterprise VR solution to be announced at launch.
