Leica launches ZM Monochrome Edition Wach, tribute to black & white photography

0

Leica today unveiled its new watch, the ZM Monochrom Edition. Officially inspired by the Leica M11 Monochrom camera, the ZM Monochrom version is a minimalist aesthetic that pays tribute to the essence of black and white photography by removing all colour elements and keeping only the “red dot” design.

The Leica Watch ZM Monochrom is available in two models, the Leica ZM 1 Monochrom and the Leica ZM 2 Monochrom, and will go on sale in mid-May, with no price announced yet for China.

The strap of the Monochrome Edition watch is described as being made of the same texture as the M11 Monochrome camera, made of thick black calfskin and hand-stitched. The “ZM” in the name of the collection stands for “Zeitmesser”, which is the German word for an instrument that measures and displays time. The watch is powered by a hand-wound mechanical movement developed and produced in-house by Leica.

Prices start at €11,550 (currently around RMB 88,000) for the ZM 1 Monochrom and €15,450 (currently around RMB 118,000) for the ZM 2 Monochrom.
