Leapmotor is expected to launch compact car C16 at Beijing Auto Show

Recently, in a media interview after the Leapmotor launch conference, Leapmotor executives revealed that the Leapmotor C16 is expected to be released at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year, and will be launched and delivered in mid-2024. This car will be Leapmotor’s first model equipped with 800V fast charging. According to previous news, the C16 is positioned higher than the C10 and may be a medium to large electric SUV with a length of about 5 meters.

In terms of the upgrade logic of new models, Leapmotor’s philosophy is that every year’s technology and product iterations are carried out neatly as a family. Therefore, after the release of the C16, other Leapmotor models are also expected to be equipped with 800V technology. In addition, Leapmotor may launch a compact sedan/SUV in the future, which may be named the A series and positioned lower than the C series currently on sale.

“Leapmotor C01 no longer provides a 717km range model”

In terms of model settings, Leapmotor said that from a market perspective, the sales of pure electric models with a range of more than 700km are not the best. Most users believe that a range of 500-600km is actually completely sufficient for daily car needs. Therefore, the focus of zero-running models is still on the range of 500-600km. And judging from the current trend, there are more and more applications of high-voltage platforms, charging speeds are getting faster and faster, and battery life anxiety will be further reduced. Therefore, the model settings have been optimized and the 700km battery life model has been removed.

“Leapmotor running C10”

In terms of international market layout, Leapmotor T03 and C10 will soon be exported to Europe. By cooperating with Stellantis Group, Leapmotor can quickly obtain more and better channel resources around the world, including parts distribution system, service system, etc. EU certification for Leapmotor will not be completed until the third quarter of 2024. The goal is to develop more than 200 sales outlets this year and start selling new cars in September. It is hoped that European sales can reach 6,000-10,000 units in 2024.
