Intel partners with Meta, Quest VR headset can connect directly to computer Wi-Fi chip

Intel and Meta have joined forces to develop a new way to connect your Oculus Quest headset directly to your gaming PC if your computer is equipped with the AX1690 Wi-Fi chip. If your computer configuration is an AX1690 Wi-Fi chip, then you can connect the Oculus Quest headset directly to the gaming PC. the way through the chip can connect the headset directly to the computer, rather than through the router (via Wi-Fi Now) to connect.

Previously, the Oculus Quest could be connected to a gaming PC to play games like Half-Life: Alyx or Star Wars: Squadron over Wi-Fi or wired USB-C. However, the experience may not be as good due to the unstable and likely disconnection issue. The new feature developed by Intel and Meta is based on an existing feature introduced by Intel last year called Dual Connection Technology (DCT), which was originally designed as a way to connect computers to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz or 6GHz networks to increase bandwidth speed and stability. It can be a good solution to the problem of unstable Internet speed when playing games.

In addition, Intel spokesman Saviver Kim said the new feature does not apply to the AX411 add-on card, and although it also offers Intel’s dual connectivity technology, it will not work with AMD chips and motherboards because the AX1690 requires features from Intel’s 12th and 13th generation platforms to work. This also poses some limitations for chip applications.
