Honda is investing $4.4 billion to build an EV battery plant in the US

Honda and LG Energy Solution are set to build an electric batterry plant in the state of Ohio to help bring Honda EVs to the region.

Honda in collaboration with LG Energy Solution is working to invest in building an EV battery plant in the United States. The plan is to situate the battery plant in the state of Ohio which will cost over $4.4 billion to build. This plant will help the car manufacturing company expand its electric car business into the region as part of the EV expansion plan.

This plan from the parties involved is still pending approval from the government, which once given, the project will kick off. According to the available reports, this project is to kick off in the first half of next year and continue throughout the year. Electric vehicle batteries from this Ohio plant will start hitting the market towards the end of the year 2025.

Asides from building this battery manufacturing plant in collaboration with LG Energy Solution, Honda will also fix up its Ohio car plants. To do this, the automobile manufacturer will pump in $700 million to raise these existing car plants to standard to aid them to roll out electric vehicles. Both the battery plant building project and fixing up the car plants will help bring over 2,500 jobs to the labour market in the Ohio region.

This plan will fuel the goal of Honda and Acura to collectively manufacture over 30 new electricity-powered vehicle entries by the year 2030. All three parties in this EV battery plant building plan will benefit in one way or the other. Honda on its part is moving into the competitive EV market in the United States, we will keep a tab on its activities to see how well it performs.
