Google Play Games PC enters open beta to players in 5 countries

Mobile gaming continues to soar in popularity as more and more people play games on their phones. While PC game market share has been steadily declining in recent years, it’s still a growing market for games.

According to Statista data, the PC platform is second only to mobile and console games in 2021, and in the U.S. alone last year, PC game revenue was still as high as $36.7 billion.

Google has also started to explore the potential of PC devices. Google Play Games for PC is already in public beta in five markets: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Australia.

Google Play Games for PC is a program that allows Windows users to play Android games on their computers. The minimum specifications for the application update are as follows.

Windows 10 version 2004 or higher

Quad-core CPU

Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU or equivalent

8GB of RAM

10GB SSD storage

According to a Google blog post, the app currently supports over 50 games.

"In the past few months, the Google Play Games catalog has more than doubled to more than 50 games that can be played on Windows PCs through standalone apps built by Google. The catalog includes many of the world's most popular mobile games, including Summoners War, Cookie Run: Kingdom, Last Fortress: Underground and Top War. hundreds of millions of players around the world play these games together."

The Google Play Games for PC test will land in other regions later this year, but no more details have been provided yet.
