Google is developing an ADT-4 Amlogic S905X4 processor box for Android TV

The ADT-3, which was launched in 2019, is now confirmed to be discontinued, and it is the only box that can run Android TV 13.

The report suggests that Google is working on an ADT-4 device for Android TV that will have a set-top box look instead of a TV stick shape. In the leaked documentation, Google calls the streaming box “ADT-4”, a “hybrid Google Developer Kit” with TV tuner hardware and support for standards like ATSC 3.0 and DVB-S2.

The ADT-4 device is powered by Amlogic’s S905X4 processor, which is much more powerful than the S905Y2 in the ADT-3. The device seems to be based on the developer box currently sold by DroidLogic.tv.

The ADT-4 is on the current list, but the hardware looks identical to the documentation we looked at. If so, that would point to the ADT-4, which includes 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and more inputs/outputs than any other Android TV developer device.

This includes TV tuner hardware, HDMI output, multiple USB ports (including USB-C, 3.5mm audio, and optical audio out), as well as a microSD card slot and built-in microphone and speaker for Google Assistant.
