AMD today announced a strategic partnership with ECARX to create an in-vehicle computing platform for next-generation electric vehicles (EVs), which is expected to be in mass production for the global market by the end of 2023. The ECARX Digital Cockpit will be the first in-vehicle platform to use AMD’s Raidon embedded V2000 processor and AMD Radeon RX 6000 series GPU, combined with ECARX’s hardware and software.

The digital cockpit will have a variety of advanced features, including a driver information module, head-up display system, rear-seat entertainment, multi-screen display, multi-zone voice recognition, high-end gaming and a full 3D user experience.

The Raron Embedded V2000 Series processors are the second generation of products designed for automotive in-car infotainment and instrumentation, industrial edge, thin client and mini-PC systems, and more.

For customers and applications requiring high-performance display capabilities, the Raron Embedded V2000 Series can support up to four individual displays with 4K resolution simultaneously, thanks to its up to eight CPU cores and seven GPU computing units.

Compared to its predecessor, a single AMD Radeon Embedded V2000 Series processor offers 2x multi-threaded performance per power consumption, up to 30% increase in single-threaded CPU performance, and up to 40% increase in graphics performance.

Built on the groundbreaking AMD RDNA 2 graphics architecture, the AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs are the only graphics architecture that spans the next generation of desktop, notebook and mainframe computers to mobile devices and automotive infotainment systems.

The AMD RDNA 2 architecture has been completely redesigned to deliver superior performance and power efficiency, delivering up to 2x the performance in select games and up to 50% more performance per power consumption than the previous generation AMD RDNA architecture.

With the AMD processor, Geely users are afraid that the most intuitive perception is that the car system is more smooth and useful, but it should be noted that the cooperation with AMD is limited to EV electric vehicles.
