The timing of the lawsuit remains uncertain, some of those sources said. the FTC could also choose not to file a lawsuit, even if it is preparing to do so, which would not necessarily result in a lawsuit. Amazon, meanwhile, has yet to meet with each of the FTC’s commissioners individually at a later stage to present their arguments against the legal challenge.

The FTC has been reviewing Amazon’s practices in recent years, including whether the company favors its own products over those of competitors on its platform and how the company treats outside sellers on Amazon.com, according to the disclosure.

In addition, the FTC has been reviewing the company’s bundling practices for its Prime subscription service and the FTC has no way of knowing exactly which businesses it would target in a potential Amazon lawsuit.
