Apple’s new headset Vision Pro will support Final Cut Pro video editing software in augmented reality when it goes on sale, allowing users to edit video with their eyes and gestures, a filmmaker said.

The filmmaker is Matti Haapoja, a YouTuber with more than a million subscribers, who had a chance to experience the Vision Pro at WWDC and said the device will revolutionize the way filmmaking, narrative and content creation is done.

In a series of tweets, Haapoja said he had never experienced such immersion. He said Apple showed him places around the world, some of which he had visited before, and it felt like reliving memories. One of the scenes was underwater with a diver feeding a shark, something he said he had done and it felt very real to be back there again. He also revealed that Final Cut Pro on Vision Pro will be available when the device goes on sale. He said he was willing to pay more than the $3,499 for the device to be able to relive important moments and experiences later in life that were absolutely astounding.

Haapoja did not reveal whether Final Cut Pro will be used with the Vision Pro as an external display and input device for the Mac, or a standalone visionOS version of Final Cut Pro. It is possible that Apple has adapted the recently launched iPad version of Final Cut Pro to this headset. What it will be like to use Final Cut Pro for video editing on Vision Pro is not yet known, but it’s definitely a very new experience.
