Fedora 38 Release, WorkStations with GNOME 44 Desktop Environment

Fedora project team today officially announced Fedora 38 release, the biggest highlight is WorkStations Edition has enabled GNOME 44 desktop environment.

Fedora 38 uses Noto fonts, shortens shutdown times, initially supports a unified kernel, and uses the Xfce 4.18 desktop environment.

GNOME 44 desktop environment was released in March under the codename “Kuala Lumpur”, with the web browser Epihaphy migrated to GTK4 and a new grid view enabled when applications invoke the system’s GTK folder filter.

Fedora 38 is also updated for developers with gcc 13, Golang 1.20, LLVM 16, Ruby 3.2, TeXLive2020 and PHP 8.2 programming languages and system library packages.
