After previously listing the project, Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently stated that Tesla is developing a $25,000 has made great strides in electric vehicles.

In a recent interview with automotive engineer Sandy Munro, Elon Musk said that Tesla’s low-cost electric vehicle project has made significant progress and that the vehicle will be produced at a very high volume. Elon Musk revealed that he reviews plans for the model’s production line every week and believes the manufacturing revolution the car will represent will be astounding.

Elon Musk said as early as 2020 that Tesla was beginning to prepare to produce a low-cost electric car and expected the car to be launched within three years. However, by January 2022 Elon Musk told Tesla investors: “We are not developing this $25,000 car yet, and we will do so at some point in the future, but we have enough on our plate for now. .”

When speaking with Munroe, Elon Musk initially declined to provide specific details about the project, saying if he did, Tesla would have to figure out how the new cars would impact its future earnings. But he hinted that the low-cost model would involve an entirely new vehicle production line, which would significantly reduce the cost of manufacturing electric vehicles. Elon Musk said: “This is a level of production technology that far exceeds any car factory on the planet.” He also added: “The first product will be produced at the Gigafactory in Texas, and then the company plans to expand production to Mexico. Second factory.”

Elon Musk also mentioned that Tesla’s Cybertruck plans have been repeatedly delayed due to a global chip shortage. Although Cybertruck deliveries have begun, Elon Musk said he could not predict the model’s production volume in the short term, only that he expected the vehicle to account for a small proportion of Tesla sales next year. Currently, Tesla has received more than 1 million pre-orders for the Cybertruck, which starts at $60,990.
