After blocking third-party Twitter clients, Elon Musk today tweeted about a “new” feature that will be introduced. In fact, these “new” features are not new, as they had been available for a while, but were pulled back because they didn’t work very well.
Elon Musk teased the Fixed List feature in a tweet and described the 3 steps needed to enable it. The feature actually went live back in 2019, but users didn’t use it very often and Twitter eventually returned to its normal timeline.
While creating different timeline content based on specific topics sounds great, Twitter’s previous attempts have not been successful. Twitter before the Elon Musk acquisition was still using algorithm-based recommendations as the default timeline, rather than arranging them in chronological order.
