Edge improves the sidebar to select desktop and mobile view for web pages

The sidebar in the Microsoft Edge browser can already open certain apps and web pages, making it easier to control information without jumping to other pages. Reddit netizen Leopeva64-2 found that Microsoft has now further improved the sidebar, which can be used to view web pages in desktop or mobile view.

If you want to free up less space for your website on the browser side, the mobile view option will come in handy as it will eliminate the need to scroll horizontally to access the entire webpage. The desktop view of a website is ideal when you have more space in the sidebar. In Microsoft Edge Canary, you can resize the sidebar.

New “Show Mobile View” and “Show Desktop View” options are available in the ellipsis menu when you open a website in the Microsoft Edge sidebar. Microsoft is also testing several other new options in the ellipsis menu, including “Disable Touch Mode” and “Copy Link” in Mobile View.

Microsoft is working on a new switch on the Settings page so you can hide the forward button when you don’t need it. When enabled, Edge will determine if the current web page is the final web page. In the current scene, the forward button will be grayed out when you no longer have any web pages after the current page. After adding a new toggle button, the forward button will be hidden instead of grayed out, saving space in the browser toolbar.
