Dodge rumored to celebrate Challenger send-off by working on a Hellcat-based Limited edition

SRT Hellcat

Dodge’s muscle car Challenger made its debut in 2008 and now after ruling the market for 16 years, it is time for a send-off for the car that would enter its final year of production in 2023. Dodge is making sure it does this in a grand way, if we were to believe certain reports.

The names Charger and Challenger would retire in 2023. It is a decision Dodge had made after certain practical considerations. The engine that the car employs would invite hefty compliance fees if the company were to continue bringing the cars to the market. Surprisingly, the engine still meets emission regulations and this never went against the car in any way. Though the Challenger retires, Dodge plans to celebrate its send-off by bringing out a new Hellcat-based limited production that would pack in more power than the Demon.

This development was reported by Mopar insiders and we hope this rumor turns out to be true. Because if it does, then it would really be one grand way to celebrate the car’s journey this far. After being introduced in 2008, the SRT Hellcat came in MY2014. The demon soon followed it in MY 2018.

Challenger’s limited edition would run on ethanol (E85), a fuel popular among drag racers. Supercar manufacturers such as Koenigsegg and SSC, also have been found building their models based on it as it enhances the power output in a significant way as compared to gasoline. The new Hellcat would come installed with a dual-fuel system like the one used in Demon.

2023 seems to be an action-packed year for Dodge. Firstly, the company would provide a preview of its electric concept ‘eMuscle’ car slated to be launched in 2024. Second, it would unveil a new plug-in hybrid vehicle that mostly would be in a small SUV format. The third item stays a mystery and only time will tell what we have in store next year.
