Demand rose for higher models of iPhone; report

Just a few weeks earlier, Apple had launched its 2022 iPhone 14 lineup which includes the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The top-end iPhones come with the all-new pill shape notch cutout and a new dynamic island, a software-based feature, which has attracted tons of users. A known Apple analyst has now released the demand report for the iPhone 14 lineup, which has some surprising news. Let’s have a deep look at the information.

Demand is high for iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, while iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max struggling

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has investigated the pre-order report for the Apple iPhone 14 lineup and has released a demand report based on that. Soon after the release of the products, the pre-order for the devices went live on almost all the markets and interested users had already pre-booked their units.

According to the report released by Kuo, the demand for the iPhone 14 lineup is neutral for the brand. He has further released a model-by-model demand report which says that the pre-order number for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are worse compared with the iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone 13 Mini. This confirms that the demand for non-pro models of the iPhone has fallen down.

As for the pro models, the analyst has said that “Undoubtedly, the pre-order results for the Pro models once again prove that Apple still has many loyal and sticky customers despite the deteriorating economy”. This also aims that the demand for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is still high and users are interested to spend their bucks on the product.

Further evidence of the weak demand for non-Pro iPhone options, in Kuo’s opinion, is the shorter delivery times for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models and the fact that the models will be available on launch day. The pre-order numbers for the iPhone 14 Plus, which is ostensibly a replacement for the iPhone 13 mini, indicate that there is significantly less demand for this new item than anticipated. The analyst concludes, “It means that Apple’s product segmentation strategy for standard models this year has failed.”
