China Audio and Video Association held a seminar on legal issues

According to the China Audio and Digital Music Association digital music work committee news, July 1, live field of sound recordings to be paid for the legal issues related to the seminar held in Beijing.

Officials said that from December 2021, the China Audio Music Association and the China Audio Collective Association jointly carried out “the right to be paid for the use of sound recordings in live broadcasts” consultation work, so far a total of three consultation meetings were held.

At the consultation meetings, all parties in the industry expressed their support for the implementation of the right to be paid in the field of live broadcasting, but believed that there are many practitioners in the live broadcasting industry, the content of live broadcasts is diverse, the industry chain is complex, and the exercise of the right to be paid for sound recordings in the live broadcasting environment involves many subjects of interest and a variety of scenarios.

To this end, the Digital Music Committee of the China Audio and Digital Music Association has taken the lead in carrying out a research project on the payment mechanism of the “right to be paid” for sound recordings in the live broadcast environment. In accordance with the research task, this seminar will discuss the legal issues related to the right to remuneration for sound recordings in the field of live broadcasting.

Vice President Ao Ran of China Audio-visual and Digital Publishing Association made a request for the research on the payment mechanism of the “right to be paid”, hoping to fully implement and respond to the spirit of the document of the “14th Five-Year Plan for Copyright Work” of the National Copyright Administration and the “Promoting the Construction of Good Digital Music Copyright”.

We hope to fully implement and respond to the spirit of the National Copyright Administration’s “14th Five-Year Plan for Copyright Work” and the spirit of the conference “Promoting the Construction of a Good Ecology of Digital Music Copyright”. On the basis of extensive research and sufficient evidence, we will develop a fair and reasonable remuneration mechanism that is in line with the laws of the market, with Chinese characteristics and in line with international standards.
