CATL’s new battery material will improve energy density by 20%

The EV battery industry is expecting a new battery entry from the Chinese EV battery manufacturer which will use CATL's new battery material.

CATL’s new battery material will change the EV industry, stepping up energy density. China’s largest EV manufacturer is attempting once again to re-envision the industry. This isn’t the company’s first strike at introducing a major change in the EV battery sector.

Information on this battery material became public in a statement from the company’s chairman. From the chairman’s statement, there is so much that we can expect from this coming battery from CATL. One such thing to expect from this new battery material is the extended range, reaching up to 700km on a single charge.

For a fact, we know that CATL is working on launching a Sodium-ion battery to replace the use of Lithium-ion batteries. The said new battery material in question is known as M3P and might also use the CTP 3.0 technology. The battery manufacturing company’s chairman says that this new battery will set up battery energy density to 20%.

Once available, this will be cheaper than existing nickel or cobalt batteries already in circulation. Most manufacturers will aim to launch cars that will put CATL’s new battery material to use on their coming vehicles. With the launch of this new battery, CATL aims to firmly establish itself as a major player in the EV battery manufacturing industry.
