CATL announced that it signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding with UL Solutions, a global expert in applied safety science, to jointly promote a safer and more reliable application of battery storage systems and power batteries.
According to the MOU, CATL will initiate the application for WTDP accredited laboratory for UL 9540A, a test standard for evaluating large-scale thermal runaway propagation in battery storage systems. By obtaining UL Solutions’ WTDP accredited laboratory qualification, CATL will be able to use its own laboratory test equipment to conduct UL 9540A tests under the supervision of UL Solutions personnel, thus further improving product testing efficiency and shortening the product launch cycle.
CATL has been awarded WTDP accreditation by UL Solutions for UL 1973 Energy Storage and Power Assist Battery Standard, UL 9540 Energy Storage Systems and Equipment Standard and UL 2580 Power Battery Standard.
CATL said that its outdoor liquid-cooled energy storage cabinet EnerOne and containerized liquid-cooled energy storage system EnerC have obtained the latest version of UL 9540A test report, making CATL the first company in China to obtain the latest version of UL Solutions’ full range of UL 9540A test reports for the cell, cabinet and container levels.
