BYD announced on September 21st that the company will change the company website on September 22nd due to business development needs.

The announcement shows that BYD’s website will be changed from www.byd.com to www.bydglobal.com, with the addition of the word “global”, representing BYD’s determination to enter the global market.

BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu said at the 2021 Annual General Meeting that the company would make more efforts to expand overseas markets in the future. At present, the company has more pressure in developing overseas markets but still took out some tight resources to promote the global electric vehicle market.

BYD officially announced its entry into the Japanese passenger car market on July 21 and unveiled three models, Yuan PLUS, Dolphin and Seal, and announced its entry into the German and Swedish markets in early August, with the first cars expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter. BYD also previously announced that it will enter the Danish market this year, with the first store opening in Copenhagen in the fourth quarter of this year. The latest news is that BYD will enter the UK later this year, with local car dealer Pendragon already in advanced discussions with BYD about a partnership. Pendragon is expected to become BYD’s partner dealer in the UK.

Since BYD stopped selling fuel vehicles in March, it has sold more than 640,000 new energy vehicles, up 314.9% year-over-year. BYD’s sales continued to rise in the third quarter, exceeding 160,000 units in July and 170,000 units in August, and by August BYD had achieved cumulative sales of 978,795 units in 2022, just one step away from a million sales. BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu believes in the first half of 2022 earnings conference call that next year (2023) China’s new energy vehicle sales are estimated at 9-10 million units, while BYD’s vehicle plan is 4 million units.
