Budget-oriented Redmi A1 to launch soon; listed on multiple certifications

Xiaomi is silently preparing to launch a budget-oriented entry-level smartphone under its Redmi brand. The device will be formally known as Redmi A1 and is expected to launch anytime soon. The device has now been registered and spotted on multiple certification websites which hints toward the imminent launch of the device.

Redmi A1 listed on certification; launching soon?

An upcoming Redmi smartphone was previously spotted in US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database. The tipster, who had shared the information regarding the device’s listing had claimed that it is no other than the Redmi A1 smartphone. The device has been codenamed as “Ice” and will launch soon.

Now, the same device has been listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification. The one listed on the US FCC database comes with the model number 220733SL and the same has been spotted on the IMEI database as well. The Redmi A1 has also been spotted in the TUV Rheinland and BIS India databases. The handset is reportedly listed with the model number 220733SL on the TUV Rheinland database, alongside another model number, 220733SG.

According to the report, the rumoured Redmi A1 was spotted with the model number 220733SI on the BIS India website. This suggests that the device could be released in India as well. Now, according to the tipster Kacper Skrzypek (@kacskrz), the Redmi A1 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC. It will measure dimensions of 164.67mm in length and about 76.56mm in width.

MySmartPrice found the handset with the model number 220733SG on the Geekbench benchmarking website. According to the listing, the phone could have 3GB of RAM, a quad-core SoC with a base frequency of 2GHz, and Android 12. According to the listing, the Redmi A1 scored 141 in single-core performance and 497 in multi-core performance.
