BMW partners with Amazon to develop a next-generation assisted driving platform

According to the news center of the BMW Group’s official website, BMW and Amazon officially announced cooperation on Tuesday. The two parties will jointly promote the innovation of next-generation models and develop the next-generation advanced driving assistance system.

BMW will use Amazon’s AWS service as the preferred cloud service provider for its assisted driving platform, using AWS’s cloud data center, computing, generative AI, Internet of Things, machine learning and storage capabilities to accelerate the development of BMW’s new advanced assisted driving vehicles. Development and delivery process.

BMW said that after this cooperation, BMW will also work with its partner Qualcomm to build a new intelligent driving platform based on Amazon AWS’s “scalable, safe and reliable” infrastructure. In addition, Qualcomm will provide BMW with advanced assisted driving technology based on the Snapdragon Ride platform starting in 2025.

As for the “next-generation model” mentioned above, its concept car Vision Neue Klasse has made its debut at the Munich Auto Show. It was previously reported that the car was developed based on the “Neue Klasse” basic platform for BMW’s next-generation electric vehicles. The first batch of electric models based on this architecture will be put into production in 2025.

Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW’s design department, said, “The design of Neue Klasse is a typical BMW style. It is so avant-garde that it looks like we skipped a generation of models.” At the same time, the official claimed that its “fresh, elegant, “timeless” design will become the hallmark of future Neue Klasse models, which will be launched in 2025-2027.
