Big price hike, sources say Apple iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max phones start with 256GB storage

0

Aug. 11 – Earlier today, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro models will be more expensive than the iPhone 13 Pro models. Kuo did not reveal the exact price, but he did say that all four iPhone 14 models will cost about 15 percent more on average overall.

While the higher price will disappoint customers, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will likely offer more storage to reflect the pricing. Previously TrendForce predicted that iPhone 14 Pro models would start at 256GB of storage and iPhone 13 Pro models would start at 128GB of storage. But that’s still up in the air.

Other rumored upgrades to the iPhone 14 Pro model include a faster A16 chip, a new “pill + punch screen” instead of the bangs notch, and an upgraded 48MP rear camera lens with 8K video recording support. There’s also support for front camera autofocus, faster 6GB of RAM and an AOD screen display that shows the lock screen time, date, widget and a new status bar with battery percentage.

In the U.S., the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max start at $999 and $1099, respectively, with 128GB of storage. With a price increase of about 10 percent, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could start at $1099 and $1199, respectively, which would be the same price as the 256GB storage versions of iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, the exact extent of the price increase remains to be seen.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 14 series in September. It’s unclear whether the standard iPhone 14 models will also see a price increase, as they still come with the A15 chip and lack some of the important upgrades of the Pro models. Sources say the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 will continue to be priced from $799.

Apple’s iPhone 14 series features 6GB of memory on all four models, with iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max using faster and more power-efficient LPDDR5.
