Apple’s new patent approved: Bringing more complex and sophisticated hinge designs to foldable iPhones

0

According to the latest list published by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has once again been granted a patent related to foldable phones. The patent improves on the previous hinge design and creates a more complex hinge for the foldable iPhone.

Apple’s previous patents for foldable iPhones have typically featured a hinge design with 3-4 small gears rotating around a larger gear. But the patent, titled “Hinges for Folding Display Devices,” refers to a complex hinge design that includes four pairs of pinions and six static parts.

Compared to the previous large hinge structure, this hinge system consisting of multiple pinions is more complex and requires a higher level of craftsmanship, but this hinge can improve the experience of use.
