Apple CEO Tim Cook said during the fiscal 2Q 2023 earnings call that the company’s sales and revenue for the quarter exceeded Wall Street expectations.

Tim Cook said a key “contributor” to the quarter’s revenue beat was the Indian market, where iPhone sales were boosted by a growing number of customers migrating from Android to iPhone.

Despite a decline in the global smartphone industry during the same time frame, iPhone did exceptionally well in the second quarter of 2023, growing 2 percent year-over-year. Cook believes Apple has largely shaken off the effects of supply chain shortages and production slowdowns.

It was a pretty good quarter from an iPhone perspective, especially when you look at the market numbers,” Cook told CNBC.

One of them is the impact of the general macro situation. The second reason is that the new products and 14-inch and 16-inch M1 MacBook Pro did not pull off too much advantage”.
