Apple’s 2022 iPad Pro / MacBook Pro may be released through a press release

0

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may decide to announce its remaining 2022 products, which include the updated iPad Pro, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch, via a press release on its website rather than a digital event.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is now “likely to announce its remaining 2022 products through press releases, website updates, and briefings with select members of the media” rather than through digital events. There have been rumors that Apple plans to hold a second fall event in October focusing on the Mac and iPad, but that may no longer be the case.

For the remainder of 2022, Apple will launch three products: the iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch with the M2 chip, an updated Mac mini with M2 and the yet-to-be-released “M2 Pro” chip, and an updated MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch.

Apple announced the M2 chip version of the redesigned MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro at WWDC22 earlier this year in June. In addition to the new chips, the Mac and iPad updates will be relatively incremental upgrades, with no rumored major design changes to the products. Apple has announced products in the past via press releases, such as the iPhone SE 2, AirPods Max and AirPods Pro initials.
