Apple’s services business now has more than 975 million active subscriptions, up more than 40 million in just three months and more than 150 million last year, Tim Cook said. Apple had said in February that its services business had more than 935 million paid active subscriptions.

Apple CFO Luca Maestri said that just three years ago, the company’s services business had fewer than 500 million subscriptions. He highlighted a strong active device base, high customer satisfaction and loyalty, and higher-than-ever engagement rates as factors driving growth in the services business.

In addition, Tim Cook also reiterated that layoffs are a “last resort”, but large-scale layoffs are not in Apple’s current plan.
