Apple unveiled the 2023 Black Unity Black History Month Apple Watch watch dials and bands to promote black culture and community spirit through exclusive content and select products.
This year’s Black Unity Collection was developed by members and allies of Apple’s Black creative community and features new expressions inspired by the mosaic-making process to highlight the vitality and unity of the Black community, according to Apple.
The Black Unity loopback sports band uses red, green and black yarns woven into the abstract word “Unity” in homage to the Pan-African Tricolor flag, with a separate layer of yarn to give the letters a three-dimensional feel. In addition, the Unity Mosaic dial is made up of green, black, red and yellow geometric shapes, with each number taking on a new form as time changes, borrowing graphics from the others. iPhone users can also use the new Unity wallpaper on the lock screen to show support.
The Black Unity loopback sports band is now available on Apple’s website and will be available at select Apple Retail Stores starting January 24 for RMB 379.
The Black Unity loopback band is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes for the Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 4 or later, and Apple Watch Ultra (45mm band only).
