According to pictures shared by netizen Sonny Dickson, at least one accessory manufacturer has prepared for the rumored “camera button” of iPhone 16.

Dickson showed off a third-party iPhone 16 Pro protective case with a slot reserved under the power button on the right side, which is where the rumored “camera button” is located. It’s unclear whether the accessory manufacturer is actually aware of this new feature, or whether it’s just based on rumors.

MacRumors first revealed the news that Apple plans to add a “camera button” to all iPhone 16 models released later this year, which will provide quick control of photo and video functions. Specifically, users can swipe the left and right sides of the button to zoom, tap to focus, and press hard to start recording.

The touch design of the “photograph button” and the layout flush with the body explain why the phone case needs to be slotted to reserve a place instead of covering it.

It is noticed that the new button will be located on the top edge of the iPhone 16 model when shooting videos in landscape orientation, providing users with an easy-to-reach shutter button, which is more convenient than the current model that relies on volume keys.

It is worth mentioning that due to the addition of the “shooting button”, the millimeter wave 5G antenna opening of the US version of iPhone 16 needs to be moved to the bottom left side of the fuselage, below the volume button. Models in other regions only support the sub-6 GHz band starting from iPhone 12, so there is no such antenna opening.

Apple is expected to release new iPhone 16 series products in September.
