Apple iOS

Apple has not officially listed the specifics of this update, and its not been found in the developer documentation.

Apple introduced support for physical security keys in iOS 16.3 as an additional protection for Apple ID. security keys for Apple ID will provide users with the option to add a third-party security key to their account, which will be required for authentication when signing in to a new device or otherwise accessing their Apple ID.

The security key is intended to replace the verification code sent to an Apple device when signing in to another device, which is the standard authentication method used by Apple. Apple says physical security keys provide strong protection against phishing and unauthorized account access. Security keys can be set up on devices running the beta by going to Apple ID > Security Keys and following the instructions. iPhone, iPad and Mac support FIDO Authentication, and Security Keys.

In addition, Apple has included a new guide in iOS 16.3 to help and guide users on how to transfer and control music from their iPhone to their HomePod. Users can move their iPhones closer to HomePod to view playback controls or transfer audio between devices.
