Apple iOS 16 Update, Weather App New Features Roundup

0

Apple has made some changes to the Weather app in iOS 16, including a new notification type and added information to serve you on all fronts, from humidity to temperature to visibility.

In addition, many of the new features in the new Weather App incorporate Dark Sky content that Apple previously acquired, so let’s take a look at it together.

Weather
There are no major updates to the overall design of the Weather app, but Apple has provided more information.

The Weather app has long had small modules that show you a variety of information, including 10-day forecast, daily temperature, air quality, precipitation, UV index, sunset/sunrise times, wind, humidity, sensory temperature, visibility and pressure, etc. Now you can tap into any of these modules to get more information, with quick toggle support.

Temperature
The temperature section shows a graph of the temperature throughout the day, including highs and lows. This should fix a problem that existed in the iOS 15 Weather app so that no more users complain about not knowing when the temperature is the daily low. In addition, this section provides a text overview of weather conditions.

In the 10-day weather forecast, you can click on any day to view a graph of the daily temperature range, and there is an option to view a larger color temperature map.

Air Quality
The Air Quality section shows a graph of the current air conditions in your area, as well as additional information on current conditions and health effects of major pollutants. In addition, you can see a larger map of air quality, also expected for the country, with the information provided by Windy Weather.

Precipitation
The new “Precipitation” is similar to previous versions of precipitation information, showing a map of where storms will hit, a zoomed-in 12-hour rainfall forecast, and a screen showing details of precipitation totals over the past 24 hours and how much rain, sleet, or snow fell at what time.

Sensory Temperature
This section provides a second temperature chart that combines temperature, humidity, wind and some other factors so you can better understand the changes in ambient temperature.

UV Index
As the name implies, the UV Index shows the current UV level and the highest UV level during the day. It also provides a paragraph of introduction, such as the recommended sun protection level.

Sunset and Sunrise
“Sunset and Sunrise” lets you know the time of sunrise or sunset, and it also includes monthly sunrise and sunset averages and total daylight readings.

Winds
This section mainly provides a daily wind speed summary, as well as a graph of wind speed and direction for the whole day.

Humidity
The humidity section shows a graph of humidity throughout the day, divided into six hourly increments. It also provides information such as average humidity and dew point.

Visibility
As the name implies, provides visibility ranges throughout the day and provides a daily summary.

Pressure
Shows the current pressure, the all-day pressure, and reading of whether the pressure is rising or falling.

Extreme Weather Alerts
As before, major warnings for other disasters such as heavy rain, flooding, hurricanes, heat waves, tornadoes, etc. are displayed, and information is expected to be provided for domestic or wabi-sabi weather.

Weather Lock Screen
Although not part of the Weather app, there is a dedicated weather lock screen in iOS 16. If it’s a sunny day, you’ll see the sun, and if it’s raining, you’ll see rain.

Weather Widgets
There are many different weather widgets that you can add to any lock screen, and there is also a larger readout with temperature, current conditions, and high/low along with individual air quality, UV index, and temperature options.

Of course, location services need to be turned on to use the weather widget.

More locations
As the name implies, check the weather in other areas.

iPad Weather
With the iOS 16/iPadOS 16 update, there is finally a weather app for iPad that fits the large display of the iPad better than the iPhone version.

We will be able to see the iOS 16 RC version after the iPhone 14 series launch next week
