Apple in talks with Baidu in China over iOS 18 generative AI partnership

0

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is negotiating with Baidu on cooperation in its generative artificial intelligence model. This may be to meet the artificial intelligence needs of iPhone users in mainland China because of Chinese laws and regulations. Such models must be approved by regulatory agencies before use.

It is noticed that it was previously reported that Apple is discussing with Google to add Google’s “Gemini” model to its upcoming iOS 18 system to support some generative artificial intelligence functions. At the same time, Apple has also had relevant contacts with OpenAI.

Chinese regulators have so far approved more than 40 generative AI models, including Wen Xin Yi Yan, developed by Baidu.
