Apple exploring Body ID: a full-body scan to verify identity and analyze physical health

After Touch ID and Face ID, the latest technology patent approved by Apple indicates that Apple is developing “Body ID”. In other words, Apple is exploring a full-body scan in addition to fingerprint and face recognition. This method could be used not only for identity verification but also for body health analysis.

Apple was recently granted a patent entitled “Electronic Device with Body Composition Analysis Circuitry,” which describes an iPhone-like device that scans a person’s body and provides “targeted content” based on the issues found.

For example, the device can scan body shape, hair color, skin condition, etc., and then provide some targeted health advice.

Apple’s patent is as follows:

Create a body image by scanning the body from head to toe. The entire body can be photographed in the image, or multiple photos of multiple parts of the face, neck, waist, legs, etc.

The body image data may include frontal body views and side body views. In addition, the image data may also include video taken while the subject is breathing and/or moving.
