A newly released survey by consulting services firm Strategic Vision reportedly shows that 26 percent of consumers are already considering buying the Apple Car electric car, despite the fact that Apple has yet to release the rumored car. If anything, the semiconductor shortage, the risk of recession, and the transition to electric vehicles have kept executives at traditional automakers up at night. Well, now they have a new reason to lose sleep: consumers are already eager to buy the Apple Car even before it appears.

Strategic Vision has just released the results of an annual study that surveyed 200,000 consumers. This year’s survey covered at least 45 car brands and included the Apple Car for the first time.

The survey results show that 26 percent said they would “definitely consider” buying an Apple Car, ranking third behind Toyota (38 percent) and Honda (32 percent) and ahead of Tesla at 20 percent.

The 26% represent the “impression” of the Apple Car brand, while the 24% who are positive about the “quality impression” of the Apple Car rank first. This compares to 11% for Tesla.

Clearly, this is a powerful branding influence, showing that in addition to phones, computers, watches and TV set-top boxes, there is a huge interest in Apple cars.

As early as 2014, Apple began secretly developing the Apple Car electric car. in December 2020, news emerged that Apple was advancing self-driving car technology with the goal of launching an electric car as early as 2024. More recently, it has been reported that Apple plans to launch a fully self-driving electric car around 2025.
