Apple today released a new Apple Watch Rainbow Edition band, and also confirmed that iOS 16.5 and watchOS 9.5 will be pushed to the public next week, both system updates have been in beta since the end of March.

The new ‘Pride Parade (Pride Celebration)’ dial and iPhone wallpaper will be available next week, requiring watchOS 9.5 and iOS 16.5,” Apple said. “In addition to the new wallpaper, iOS 16.5 will also bring two small but useful changes to the iPhone, including the addition of a sports tab to the Apple News app and the ability to launch screen recording via Siri. Overall, the update is a relatively minor one, and it comes just a few weeks before Apple unveils iOS 17 at WWDC in June.

Overview of the updates to iOS 16.5:

Rainbow Wallpaper

iOS 16.5 will include a new Pride Celebration wallpaper that matches the new Pride Celebration edition band for Apple Watch.

Sports tab in Apple News

Apple has added a Sports tab to the News app in iOS 16.5, giving users easy access to news, scores and schedules for their favorite teams and leagues. This information could previously be found in the Today tab, but now they’re more prominent as Apple continues to push deeper into sports content in its service.
Screen recording via Siri

iOS 16.5 also adds a small but convenient feature that allows you to do screen recordings through Siri. You can say “Hey Siri, start screen recording” to record your screen and have Siri stop recording when you need to.
