Apple Books Launches Vertical Reading Manga Column in Japan

Apple Japan has announced in a press release that it has opened a new “vertical reading manga” page on Apple Books, and is collaborating with creators to distribute related manga exclusively.

The vertical approach is more suitable for reading manga than the horizontal page-turning feature that applies to traditional mediums such as novels and magazines. Vertically read manga is a popular content type made specifically for digital media, optimized for vertical scrolling and smooth reading.

iPhone, iPad and Mac users in Japan can access the “Vertical Reading Manga” page in the “Manga Store” tab using the Apple Books app.

Apple said that Apple Books will focus on vertical reading manga content and has partnered with more than 180 creators to create nearly 100 vertical reading manga series each year.

The report that the vertical reading comic content covers popular series such as romance/romance, fantasy, and action, and also offers a variety of genres such as suspense, horror, otherworldly, and science fiction.
