Analogue Announces Production of Last Super Nt and Mega Sg Retro Game Consoles

0

Analogue, a manufacturer of retro gaming hardware, has just announced the production of the last Super Nt and Mega Sg consoles — after-market versions of the Nintendo SNES, and Sega Mega Drive (Genesis), respectively. To reconfigure the classic video game console, Analogue chose an FPGA solution to eliminate emulation latency. For output, both Super Nt and Mega Sg support 1080p HDMI video, and 16-bit @ 48kHz audio.

In contrast to emulators, Super Nt and Mega Sg are not only compatible with original game cassettes and accessories but also support wireless joysticks from 8Bitdo.

In addition, the Mega Sg can be used with the Sega CD via the edge connector. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with 32X, as the latter is connected to the original console using patch cables.

On the sales front, the Super Nt Classic, SF and Super Nt Black are scheduled to open for pre-order on October 28 for $199.99. Unfortunately, the early transparent version of Analogue has been discontinued.

The next Mega Sg (US, Japanese and European versions) will also be available for pre-order on October 28th for $199.99 – the plain white version, like the clear early version above, has been permanently discontinued by Analogue.

For those interested, you can sign up for arrival notifications at the Analogue website. If all goes well, the Super Nt and Mega Sg are expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2023 (before Christmas).

Analogue announced that 95% of the pre-orders for its Pocket handheld will be shipped by the end of 2022. All remaining orders will be delivered as soon as possible in 2023.

Pending pre-order customers can check the current order fulfilment status by jumping to the link in the “confirmation email”.

In the meantime, Pocket Cartridge’s three adapters will be available for pre-order on October 21, priced at $99.99 and expected to ship in the third quarter of 2023.

In terms of compatibility, TurboGrafx-16, PC Engine, SuperGrafx, Neo Geo Pocket, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Atari Lynx cassettes are supported.
